Maple or Bamboo?

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Will it be maple or bamboo?

In the marketplace there has been tremendous media attention on the benefits of bamboo over the traditional hardwoods like maple. Bamboo is a very sustainable resource that is quick to grow; it's really a grass and not a wood. On the flip side, the proven durability and the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) rating that our John Boos maple products have achieved is a must in today's kitchen.

To make it simple: it's a matter of personal preference. Do you like the warm rich tones of maple or the exotic grain of bamboo? Once you have decided on the type of material, read through our article on Chopping Blocks vs. Cutting Boards to determine the type of construction that will best suit what you're going to do with it.
