Skip the stress of making reservations, rushing to get there, and fighting the crowds this Valentine's Day and make it a romantic and simple Valentine's Day at home. Food is definitely a love language, so what better way to celebrate than with some delicious bites right at home?
Don't be afraid to get cheesy:
Everyone loves a good cheese board and you can tailor them to meet any dietary needs or preferences. Cheese and charcuterie boards can be a starter to get the night going, or you could make a large board to eat off of all night. One of our favorite boards to use for cheese and charcuterie is the John Boos Maple Round Board because it's big enough to build a gorgeous spread, but thin enough to keep it light enough to carry from the kitchen to the coffee table. If you're looking to get really fancy for the night, check out the John Boos Mini Round Block that's raised up for some serious #presentationgoals.
Don't skimp on the meat:
Valentine's Day is a day to splurge a little bit, so why not get the good steaks to cook for dinner? No matter how you like your steak cooked, one of the best tricks is to let your steaks rest for 7-8 minutes before cutting into it. If you're slicing up steaks or other meat, make sure you're cutting on a cutting board with a juice groove to keep the excess juices from running off the board. Our best selling Juice Groove board is our John Boos Au Jus Wide Groove.
Plan out your wine pairings:
Whether you're snacking on cheese and prosciutto all night or feasting on a ribeye, you definitely can't forget the wine. Any cabernet would go well with red meat for your main course, but starting with a lighter white wine with your cheese board is a great way to kick off the night. If you're looking to make it a little extra romantic, our friends at Carved Solutions have an excellent collection of monogrammed wine glasses.
